Biotechnological instruments such as transformation and gene editing hold significant promise for enhancing crop quality. When integrated with traditional breeding techniques, these tools can facilitate the study of gene functions, enable precise mutations, and reduce the duration of breeding cycles. The successful transformation process begins with the effective delivery of biomolecules; however, in dryland crops, these processes are often underdeveloped or reliant on intricate tissue culture techniques that may encounter various regeneration challenges. My current research is centered on creating a simplified transformation method for dryland crops. In the future, these techniques could be utilized to advance the improvement of dryland crops by enabling targeted mutagenesis and the enhancement of specific traits.
